SymbiaVC Strengthens Investment Portfolio with Modvion
SymbiaVC further strengthens its strategic investments, transitioning from a convertible loan to equity ownership in Modvion, formalized through a legal partnership agreement.
Modvion has successfully closed a SEK 67 million (EUR 5.9 million) financing round, securing continued support from existing shareholders and adding CMPC Ventures as a new strategic investor to its cap table.
This round marks another successful collaboration for SymbiaVC and CMPC Ventures, who previously co-invested in Strong by Form, a high-growth startup in the global wood industry sector.
A Strong Vote of Confidence
The latest funding round underscores the robust support for Modvion’s wooden wind towers and their role in driving sustainable infrastructure solutions. The participation of existing investors alongside new capital highlights the growing confidence in Modvion’s vision and technological advancements.
“Apart from Modvion’s exceptionally innovative product, we are particularly impressed by the excellent collaboration with Maria-Lina Hedlund, CFO of Modvion, and her team. At SymbiaVC, we are now strategically positioned to support Modvion’s growth even further,” adds Marlis Baurecht, Investment Manager of SymbiaVC.
Welcoming a Strategic Partner: CMPC
A key highlight of this funding round is the inclusion of CMPC, one of the world’s largest forestry companies, based in Chile. CMPC is eager to support Modvion’s global expansion and offers a strategic partnership rooted in shared values and a vision for future innovations. Recognized by the Dow Jones Sustainability Index as one of the top sustainable companies globally for the second year in a row, CMPC’s investment aligns perfectly with Modvion’s commitment to sustainability.
CMPC Ventures joins the group of major shareholders, including Vestas Ventures, Almi Greentech Fund, Course Corrected VC, and SymbiaVC.
Empowering Future Innovations
The infusion of capital will enable Modvion to continue developing next-generation products, enhancing production, and expanding marketing and sales capabilities. This strategic funding is set to propel Modvion’s innovative solutions onto the global stage, particularly in the realm of sustainable construction.
“CMPC is very excited about its investment in Modvion, as it aligns with our commitment to sustainability and innovation. This represents a significant step forward in advancing the use of wood in construction and developing more sustainable solutions. We have a dedicated team of technical, strategic, and commercial experts ready to support Modvion’s growth,” says Bernardita Araya, CMPC Ventures Manager.
